this is the 1st challenge for the contest held by Elysianskies
[link] 1. Choose a mythological/magical creature as your theme and write or link a short description in your artist comments. 2. Design a costume for the carnival in Venice for a woman, pay attention to detail and go as crazy and creative as you like/can. (play with shapes and structures) 3.Design a mask, fitting your theme and also pay attention to the hair/hat 4. Must be a colored piece! -Description: what i love about the carnival of Venice is how each individual tries to be unique .....when i started the research i was drawn to the Japanese mythology and its creatures ....then i thought y not bring the magical mysteries of japan to Venice ,,,,,,in this way my lady will be one of a kind and standing out among the others -mythical creature: the Kitsune : Kitsune are believed to possess superior intelligence, long life, and magical powers. They are a type of yōkai, or spiritual entity, and the word kitsune is often translated as fox spirit. Physically, kitsune are noted for having as many as nine tails. Generally, a greater number of tails indicates an older and more powerful fox; in fact, some folktales say that a fox will only grow additional tails after it has lived 1,000 years. One, five, seven, and nine tails are the most common numbers in folk stories. -THE DESIGN: for this challenge i decided to since my creature is from japan then am gonna use the traditional kimono but with a twist ...that's y i added the fur which represents the Kitsune along with the mask -BLACK SILK BROCADE KIMONO -SEPIA FUR COAT WITH 9 TAILS -BROWN AND RED SILK BROCADE OBI -TRADITIONAL FOX MASK |

Fashion, a passion that borders on obsession
It is not something that exists in dresses only.
It is in the sky, in the street, everywhere.
yet explosively beautiful design! You are truly brilliant
and amazing! I have to say, you have done an
incredible job for this challenge, however not as
Venice as the traditional costume should be, it is
still undoubtedly one of the most original designs
I have seen on DeviantART. To be frank, you always
are one of the most creative designers on my list!
This time, you really left me speechless. I was extremely
tremendously flabbergasted. Great work!
I wish you the best of luck, mate.

Fashion, a passion that borders on obsession
It is not something that exists in dresses only.
It is in the sky, in the street, everywhere.
On the one side it's completely gorgeous, sophisticated and elegant. The illustration is very beautiful and the Japanese influence is very visible.
On the other hand this sadly is just completely beside what the challenge asked for..
I understand your concept and the idea behind it. She sure would stand out there, no question since there is nothing typically Venecian at all in your costume.
What I asked for was to take an inspiration and incorporate it into something traditionally and typically Venecian.
You could have very easily translated the Japanese influence into something more traditional. For example the kimono sleeves and that awesome fur coat and tails while you kept the skirt and the mask/head piece Venecian.
Your design is still breathtaking and I couldn't expect you to redraw in the week that is left till the deadline (I extended till next sunday), though I would have loved to see more from you.
